Frequently asked questions
-
How do I earn paint?
By focusing. Each minute of a completed focus session is worth 1 drop of paint, and sessions of 45 minutes or more earn 20% extra. Paint buys decorations, colors and hats.
-
Why did the painting get smudged?
With Full Focus on, which is the default, if you leave the app for more than 10 seconds mid-focus, or pick up the phone and don’t put it down within 10 seconds, the painting gets smudged: the session stops and earns no paint. Stopping before the end earns no paint either, with or without Full Focus. During the first 10 seconds you can cancel without losing anything.
-
How does the app know I picked up the phone?
With Full Focus on and the phone resting on a table or a stand, the app uses the motion sensor during the session to notice when it’s picked up. Then a warning appears with a 10-second countdown. Nothing is recorded or sent. If you’d rather not use this, turn off “Smudge the painting if I pick up the phone” in Settings › General. With Full Focus off, the sensor isn’t used.
-
Can I use my phone during a focus session?
Yes. When you set up the session, turn off “Full Focus”. You can then leave the app and come back: nothing smudges, no warning asks you to come back and the pick-up sensor stays off. The critter keeps painting, and you earn the same paint and paintings as with Full Focus on. The app remembers your choice for the next sessions.
-
How do I get a new painting?
Every completed focus session of 20 minutes or more finishes a painting. It goes to the Gallery and, if there’s an empty frame, it shows up hanging in it right away (first in the room you’re in, then in the others).
-
How do I unlock more rooms?
With paint, one at a time: kitchen (150 drops), garden (300), living room (450), bathroom (600) and studio (800). In Decorate, the house shows all 6 rooms; the locked ones look faded, with a preview. Each new room comes empty, and you decorate it with the paint you earn.
-
Can I take a break?
Yes. At the end of a focus session, the app asks if you want a 5, 10 or 15-minute break. During the break you can decorate as much as you like, and an alert lets you know when it’s over.
-
What is golden paint?
It’s the Pro paint: 1 golden drop for every 10 minutes of completed focus. It buys the Special theme decorations, the gold color and the heart glasses.
-
What does Focus Atelier Pro include?
Focus sessions of up to 6 hours (up to 2 hours without Pro), golden paint for special decorations, optional triple paint, tags with your own names and colors, and focus charts (last 30 days, time of day and day of the week). You can get it monthly, yearly or as Lifetime (pay once, yours forever).
-
How does the free trial work?
The yearly plan may start with 3 free days. Nothing is charged during the trial. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the yearly subscription is charged when the trial ends. The App Store decides who’s eligible: usually one trial per Apple Account. Details are in the Terms of Use.
-
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone, go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions, choose Focus Atelier and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also get there from the app: Settings › Pro › Manage subscription. Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
-
I switched phones. How do I get Pro back?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Settings › Pro › Restore purchases. Pro and the packs come back. Paint, the house and the paintings come back with the backup file: on the old phone, use Settings › Backup › Export file; on the new one, Import file.
-
How do I ask for a refund?
Purchases are charged by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, following Apple’s rules.
-
Does my data go to the cloud?
No. There’s no account and no server of ours: your progress stays on your iPhone. Only the purchase records go through Apple and RevenueCat, with an anonymous ID (see the Privacy Policy). To avoid losing anything when you switch phones, use Settings › Backup › Export file.
-
Notifications aren’t arriving. What can I do?
Check that they’re on in the app’s Settings (Notifications) and in the iPhone’s Settings › Notifications › Focus Atelier. A Focus mode, such as Do Not Disturb, can also silence them.
-
How do I add the widget?
Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap Edit › Add Widget and search for Focus Atelier. There are small and medium sizes. On the Lock Screen, touch and hold, tap Customize and add it to the widget area.
-
How do I delete my data?
Settings › About › Start over from scratch erases your progress (paint, house, paintings, tags and history), but your purchases stay. Deleting the app erases everything it saved on the iPhone. To delete the purchase records kept by RevenueCat, write to us.
